Dog Team Volunteer
Location: RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter
Role Overview:
As a Dog Team Volunteer, you will be directly involved in the care, exercise, and enrichment of the dogs at our Shelter. Your dedication will help improve their quality of life, ease their transition into new homes, and support their happiness and health during their time with us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Care: Help with feeding, cleaning kennels, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the dogs.
- Exercise and Socialisation: Spend time walking the dogs, playing with them, and providing social interaction to help keep them active and engaged.
- Enrichment: Organise and participate in activities that stimulate the dogs mentally and physically, helping to reduce boredom and encourage appropriate behaviour.
- Health Monitoring: Keep an eye on the dogs’ health and behaviour, and report any issues or concerns to the Shelter staff.
- Teamwork: Work closely with staff and other volunteers, following guidance to ensure the dogs receive the best possible care.
Requirements:
- Willingness to Learn: A strong interest in dogs, a positive attitude, and the ability to take instruction.
- Commitment: Able to commit to at least one morning (9:00–12:00) or afternoon (13:00–16:00) shift per week.
- Physical Fitness: Comfortable with the physical aspects of the role, including walking dogs of various sizes, handling active dogs, and cleaning.

Cat Team Volunteer
Cat Team Volunteer
Location: RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter
Role Overview:
As a Cat Team Volunteer, you will play a vital role in the daily care and socialisation of the cats at our Shelter, helping to ensure their wellbeing and support their journey to a loving home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Care: Assist with feeding, cleaning, and maintaining a comfortable environment for the cats.
- Socialisation: Spend time with the cats to help them feel relaxed and comfortable at the Shelter and spending time with people.
- Enrichment: Provide activities and playtime to keep the cats mentally and physically stimulated.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any health or behavioural concerns to the staff.
- Teamwork: Work closely with staff and other volunteers, following instructions to support the smooth running of the Shelter.
Requirements:
- Willingness to Learn: A positive attitude and ability to take instruction.
- Commitment: Able to commit to at least one morning (9:00–12:00) or afternoon (13:00–16:00) shift per week.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of handling the physical aspects of the role, including cleaning and lifting.

Small Animal Team Volunteer
Small Animal Volunteer
Location: RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter
Role Overview:
As a Small Animal Volunteer, you will be responsible for the care and enrichment of a variety of small animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, ferrets, and birds. Your role will help ensure these animals are healthy, comfortable, and well-cared for, respecting their natural preferences and improving their chances of finding loving homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Care: Assist with feeding, cleaning enclosures, and providing fresh bedding and water to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for the animals.
- Socialisation: Spend time interacting with the animals, respecting their natural preferences, as many small animals prefer limited handling. Focus on creating a stress-free environment by offering gentle interaction and enrichment.
- Enrichment: Provide activities, toys, and appropriate stimuli that cater to each species’ natural behaviours, keeping them mentally and physically engaged.
- Health Monitoring: Observe the animals for any signs of illness or distress, and report concerns to the shelter staff.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with staff and other volunteers, following instructions to ensure the animals receive the best possible care.
Requirements:
- Willingness to Learn: A passion for small animals, a positive attitude, and the ability to take instruction.
- Commitment: Able to commit to a regular volunteering schedule, ideally one morning (9:00–12:00) or afternoon (13:00–16:00) shift per week.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of handling the physical aspects of the role, including cleaning and lifting.
Shift Availability: We currently looking for volunteers for the following shifts:
