She may be too big for the cat flap, but Moose is stealing hearts as she begins a new chapter filled with care, playtime, and hope.
When Moose arrived at Little Valley, she’d been found abandoned in a remote area, with no sign of her previous owner despite extensive efforts. Sadly, this kind of neglect isn’t uncommon – but Moose’s condition shocked even our seasoned team. At just 7 years old, Moose scored 9 out of 9 on the veterinary obesity scale.
She’s so overweight she can’t clean herself, and we’ve had to help with daily wipes and even shave her matted fur to keep her comfortable. She now lives in our cat playroom because she can’t fit through the cat flap in a pod. Moose is now on a special satiety diet and has been thoroughly checked for any underlying health conditions like diabetes.
While she tires easily, her playful side still shines through. She loves chasing toys, purring loudly, and soaking up affection from our team. We’re now looking for a very special home for Moose – someone loving, patient and vigilant. She needs help with regular grooming, portion control and no sneaky treats, no matter how convincing her eyes might be! Moose’s story is a powerful reminder of how easily a pet’s weight can spiral without proper care – and how preventable that is. With the right support, Moose can live a healthy, happy life.
