As a registered charity (Charity No. 205154), we operate independently, receiving no government funding and less than 5% support from the National RSPCA Society. This autonomy allows us to tailor our services to the specific needs of our community and the animals we serve.
Located on the picturesque outskirts of Exeter in Devon, our shelter spans 21 acres of scenic land nestled in a beautiful Devon Valley, complete with a tranquil stream meandering through its grounds. Here, we provide a safe haven for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals, offering them a second chance at happiness.
At the helm of our organisation is our CEO and dedicated Board of Trustees, whose expertise and guidance are vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our shelter. Their leadership drives our mission forward, enabling us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals every day.
Our shelter is not just a sanctuary; it’s also a thriving community hub. Through our retail arm, we generate significant revenue to sustain our operations, ensuring our doors remain open to animals in need. Additionally, the generosity of those who leave gifts in their wills plays a crucial role in supporting our never-ending mission.
But we don’t do it alone. Volunteers, supporters, and fundraisers are the heart and soul of our organisation, providing invaluable assistance and unwavering dedication. Together, we host events, fundraise tirelessly, and rally behind our cause, united in our commitment to animal welfare.
Our Friends of Little Valley membership scheme extends our reach across Devon, with friends groups serving as vital community hubs. In terms of geographic area, the Devon branch is one of the largest in the UK, presenting both challenges and opportunities. As our organisation continues to grow, so too does our capacity to meet the increasing demands and challenges facing animals in our care.
