Squeak, Silver and Thumper are a rare delight; a bonded trio of boys who not only get along beautifully, but who are still patiently waiting to be adopted together.
At just under a year old (with dad Squeak around two), these charming cavies have been overlooked time and again, perhaps because male guinea pigs often have a reputation for falling out. But not these three. They’re sweet-natured, well-bonded, and spend their days peacefully pottering, snacking on hay, and watching the world go by. They can be shy around sudden movements, but show a gentle curiosity, especially when someone is tidying up their space!
They are also the last of our guinea pigs still searching for a home before work begins on a brand-new, purpose-built guinea pig unit as part of our wider redevelopment. For years, our guinea pigs have had to share space with rabbits, something far from ideal for such different species. Now, we’re excited to create a bespoke area just for them, designed with guinea pig behaviour, comfort, and enrichment in mind.
Sadly, we’re seeing more and more guinea pigs arrive at the shelter due to abandonment or unrealistic expectations. Often marketed as ‘starter pets’ for children, guinea pigs have complex needs, live 5–8 years on average, and require more than just food and a cage. They need companionship, regular handling, stimulation, and plenty of space – indoors or out.
Squeak, Silver, and Thumper are a shining example of just how wonderful guinea pigs can be when their needs are met. Could you be the one to give them the loving home they deserve?
