A strong start for our shops this spring

Our charity shops have had a fantastic start to the year, with strong growth, exciting developments, and a busy Summer ahead.

What a fantastic start to the year we’ve had across all of our retail shops. Thanks to the continued support of our communities, our shops are not only thriving but helping to fund the vital work we do for animals across Devon.

Our two newest shops in Tiverton and Brixham are flying the Little Valley flag, building strong, loyal customer bases and seeing fantastic levels of repeat donations. Every item donated and every purchase made, directly supports the animals in our care, helping to fund everything from veterinary treatment to rehabilitation and rehoming.

In Brixham, the team will begin trading on Sundays from 3 May to coincide with the town’s famous Pirate Weekend, an exciting step as we head into the busy summer season. After holding the fort for over a year, we are delighted to have promoted Sharon from Deputy Shop Manager to Shop Manager, recognising her hard work and dedication. We are now recruiting for a new Deputy Manager, and the shop is also looking for volunteers to join the team. If you would like to get involved, you can find out more on page 30.

In Tiverton, Bex has enjoyed a very successful twelve months in charge. In her first role following an internal promotion, she has done an outstanding job, supported by Deputy Manager Jodie and a fantastic team of volunteers.

Looking ahead, there is so much to be excited about, particularly the opening of our new flagship shop in Newton Abbot, which we hope to launch in early Summer. This will also serve as a distribution centre, with our growing online retail operation moving there later in the year, marking a significant step forward for Little Valley’s retail future.

I would like to thank our loyal customers, dedicated shop teams, and incredible volunteers for the support they have given over the past year. I feel incredibly proud to lead our retail team and look forward to what promises to be a busy and successful Summer, helping even more animals in need.
