Super supporters all Walking Their Way Through May raise £1,962

Eight incredible fundraisers took up our 100k challenge to get out and about in nature for a great cause.

At the start of the year, our fundraising team were thinking of hosting a walking event to raise money and awareness of Little Valley. A good old-fashioned group dog walk was an obvious choice, but what about all our supporters without dogs? The cat lovers? The ferret fanciers and bunny buddies? We wanted all animal lovers to take part.
So Walk Your Way Through May was born. A brand new event which could be done anywhere, anytime, by anyone. Walk 100km over 31 days, get out in nature, and improve your physical and mental health. We had eight people sign up and take part, plus a few dogs were roped in too!

Dawn Key (manager of our Newton Abbot Shop) and her dog Yiannis really embraced the challenge and documented their adventures via social media and their JustGiving page. Dawn and Yiannis visited stunning places around Devon in all weathers, raising just over £500! Joe, Bex and Sue from our Sidwell Street shop in Exeter formed a team and each got out and about clocking up the miles daily. They raised over £660 with support from friends, family and regulars at the shop. George and his dog Mala used the opportunity as an excuse to exercise more and have the motivation to try and lose a few pounds as well as make a few pounds! Catherine Mellor, Shannon Wood, Julie Flory, Lee and Wendy Dellar, and Debs Blandford also took part and collectively, the event raised £1,962.

Imagine if we had lots more people taking part! There’s so much potential with this event. So we will be bringing it back next year and we aim to make it bigger, better and also incorporate some brilliant group walks all around Devon. Watch this space! A heartfelt thank you to all who took part and donated.
